Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol that is used to encode the data exchanged between a hosting server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to secure the info that site visitors submit on your site - a login page, a payment page if you run a web-based store, and so forth. Any information they type in in any box on the site will be submitted safely to the server, so their login or payment information shall be protected from being accessed by unauthorized people. Usually, an SSL certificate requires a dedicated IP address to be installed, which means the overall cost for your web presence will be higher. While this may not be an issue for a larger company, it may matter for a non-profit organization or a small online shop that doesn't generate big income if additional money should be spent. This is the main reason why we've taken advantage of an extension known as Server Name Indication (SNI) and we have made it possible to use a shared server IP address to set up an SSL certificate.
Shared SSL IP in Cloud Web Hosting
Since we offer SSL certificates with our cloud web hosting packages, you can very easily secure your site and use a shared IP address with only several clicks. The option shall be available during the order process, therefore if you have a dedicated IP address, you could use it, but if you don't have one and you do not want to pay for such a service, you'll be able to use the shared IP, that has been set up specifically for SSLs. The certificate shall work in the exact same way as if it had a dedicated IP and the only difference will be that if somebody attempts to open the IP address as a URL, they won't see your Internet site. Given that our system comes with an auto-configuration option, the SSL will be installed automatically the moment it's issued, so you'll not need to do anything on your end after you approve it. In this way, you'll be able to have a risk-free and reliable Internet site without spending extra cash for that.
